Topic: Some Videos not playing, what are my options

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi, I'm a vdj3.4 user (recently purchased) and I'm having trouble getting some of my videos to play. These videos play in other players such as Windows Media Player or BSPlayer or Zoom player or Quicktime but do not play using VDJ. I have checked that the wmv extension points to the Windows Media Video Decoder in the extensions page (and have also tried the standard Video Decoder option) but still they do not play.

What can I do to get these vids to play?
Is there anyway to load custom decoder engines?

My main use for the software is video mashup so this is really making me frustrated and I am starting to doubt my choice in software.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What videos are these? How were they ripped? What is the difference between them and the ones that do play?

Two thoughts,

1) Recode them for MPG1 (or 2)

2) What version of Media Player were they encoded with? and at what Compression? I've seen one compression ratio (real low) in a specific version of Windows Media Player cause this effect.
