As you may know, dmc1, dac2 and obviously the djconsole already have a built-in support in virtualdj, so I don't see why anyone would need to use midi with it.

Also, as I'm sure you're already aware of, virtualdj already has a native midi support too.

So my question was: which device does explicitely need a "per-channel" midi support.

The midi support in vdj is based on "per-note" shortcuts without channels distinction, because we weren't aware of any device that would need this channel distinction, and atomix prod's leitmotiv is to build easy-to-use software, which means not including every features we can think of only because we know how to implement them, but rather including only those who are useful, keeping the functions straight and clear.

Anyway, we'll check those links of course (the other leitmotiv being to always keep the software close to the comunity needs, and make good use of your feedbacks and help ;-)

devteam, maby it is worth leaving the basic midi option as it is but also have a section for advanced midi offering full midi support (multiple channels) this way you still have your ease of use aswell as satasfing your customers wanting alittle more out of the software.
there is certainley a demand out there for full midi control so why not implement it?

DEV Staff,

the reason I wanted midi channels is two fold

1st and most obivous is so we can have more than 1 midi device.

2nd I've asked for a mapper for the dac/dmc and was told this is not planned and woudn't be added. So my only option is to use the dac as a midi device allowing me to assign the dac buttons as I want them to be. Midi drives for the dac include 2 channels one for the left and one for the right so basically i can't use them until the software knows the difference.

I believe i'm not the only one wanting this added.

hurc console users now have this option as well. Not to mention the face we can build our own midi devices like a crossfader or mixer.
