With all the discussion about which asio soundcard to get, is it possible to use one of these new usb mixers such as the Numark DM950USB http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/search/detail/base_pid/808456/

yes, you can...
Quite a few use it with VDJ already..
Gives you 2 x usb soundcards for Virtual DJ.
And a real mixer for other analogue equipment (cd players / turntables)
There are other solutions also, such as this hybrid real mixer / midi mixer:

And of course the entry-level for beginner djs (pure midi / no hardware mixer ):

well ive heard that you could use the mixman dm2 ... yet ive no idea how ... im assuming id need some sort of drivers for one ... (2 i dont really know squat about computers .. so im also trying to figure out if i can get headphones to work on vdj 2 [ i cant seem to update] because my mixes are suffering using just intuition ... i figured i could make a pretty good mix using just the cues .. but i find that it still lacks somewhat.. i cant afford anything really ... and i dont even have an idea how i would go about getting a splitter or something)
