Topic: DAC 3 WITH RANE MP4 TOGETHER WILL IT WORK???

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

DOES ANYBODY USE RANE MP4 MIXER AND DAC 3 OR 2 CONTROLLER TOGETHER USING VDJ SOFTWARE?
AND HOW IS IT DOING NO CONFLICT WITH HARDWARE. ALSO CAN YOU ASSIGN THE MP4 CROSSFADER TO VDJ. IAM PLANNING TO BUY THE UNITS.

From reading the manual (http://www.rane.com/pdf/mp4man14.pdf), this looks like a standard (But very compact) mixer with built-in USB sound card with 2 outputs (For each deck in VDJ), but only 1 input, so not ideal for timecode vinyl or CD's.

There's no mention of MIDI, so it's unlikely that you will be able to control any functions of VDJ. The crossfader will allow you to fade between the two USB sound channels, but cannot be used as a video crossfader (MIDI is required for this.)

It should work fine with either a DAC-2 or DAC-3 (Or any other controller for that matter), and would be ideal if available rack space is limited. Otherwise, you would be better off with a full-size rack-mount mixer with channel faders, hi/mid/lo/gain, etc.
