ok, I dl'ded the 51 video effects, put the file in the video effects folder. Started VDJ, went to config, then went to video, and at the bottom, where you specify what you want VDJ to do if there is no video, i selected 1 of the video effects to play.
So how do I get them to play then. Whatever I do, I can't get them to show.
Do they only work if I go from a music video to a mp3?
Is there anyway to play the video effects when not using VDJ for anything else?

Ok, You have to ACTIVATE video output in VDJ->Config->Video->Video Output and check the ACTIVATE option. When you don't have a video clip loaded, the only way to get the video output ON is activating ot manually.
