Topic: Language.xml in Unicode or UTF-8?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello folks, I have a trick situation here...

I am trying to translate the language.xml file into another languages that use Unicode (or UTF-8), specially to make it available in the international language Esperanto (www.esperanto.net). However, it "seems" that the mentioned text file MUST BE in the format/set "ANSI" - that is, standard american characters.

How can I solve this? I tried a lot of different methods, for example, changing the skin's .xml file from font "Virtual DJ" to "Tahoma" (which supports Unicode). I was wondering how people did to make it in Slovakian, Greek etc.

So the problem is: how can I use Unicode characters in Virtual DJ's language.xml file? Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

PS: here are some unicode samples, I hope you can see them in your current font settings: ĉu ĈU aŭ AŬ ĝuo ĜUO ĵeti ĥoro
