Hi 3.0 worked fine with video with hardware accelerated mode.
Now , with 3.1 EVERY TIME i click the fader button to mix video with hardware accelaration, it crashes with serious error.
works fine without (except the performance isnt there).

Doesnt matter if its avi or mpg1&2. Even tried to use ffdshow for an external codec.
Using AMD 2.0 ghz laptop, ATI RADEON xpress 200M with 256 mb ram.

Any ideas?

tried video today, using a toshiba laptop a70, noticed it crashes on me as well, with acceleration on and off. Wonder whats going on. Don't really use video, but caught my attention when i wanted to try it today, happens every single time i enable video. Worked good on v 3.0. Any ideas?

You can uninstall ffdshow with the latest update unless you plan to use wmp decoder for everything. Go into the extensions manager and set everything that is related to video to the internal decoder. Also be sure you have the latest drivers offered by your manufacteurs card. Thats a good start ;)

i uninstalled ffdshow. How can i be sure i am using the internal video decoders..??

let the task scheduler stay onscreen, the cpu usage is MUCH LOWER than with external decoders.

let me rephrase that, under the extensions, how do i know i am using the virtual dj internal decoders or the windows decoders?

All i see is "video decoder" associated with mpg and avi...

there's WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER DECODER and VIDEO DECODER

video decoder work as internal for me, in new version should be text altered to state "internal"

I think you got it right now.

Well i tried windows media player decoder and VIDEO decoder and there is no difference.
I have found that i can fade in out (to black) with Hardware acceleration. But if i try to mix videos, fade to bitmap, or fade to visuals, that is when it crashes.

I can load both decks and have them both cued up and playing, but the second i hit the video fade cutton it crashes.

Just a note, that 3.0 works, i am thinking it is something in the 3.1 code.
Of course i need 3.1 for my karaoke, so i am stuck.
thanks

HOLY COW! I fixed it.

In the ATI settings, under the direct 3D settings, i had changed it to performance instead of the default of balanced.

I thought of this when i ran the directx tests and notice the cube was drawn incorrect.

3.1 ROCKS!

So if you can learn anything, RUN the DXDIAG!!!
