The waveform display can not be disabled. Try setting windows to lower resolution @ 16 bit color mode, and closing out of any applications running in the background using task manager.

You also might want to experiment with several different skins. I think some skins take up more resourses than others.

Hrm. Couldent a skin be made to either a) make a really really small version of the waveform, or b) not have it at all. (i.e. 0 pixels size)
Something to think about.
As for CPU usage, my problem is not that- but rather the fact I have an audigy soundcard, with no new drivers to fix the problem. :-(

Yea: you can delete the spectrum analyzer!!!
1) Open the *.xml skin file of your favourite skin (open it with notepad)
2)find something like this in the .xml file:
rhythm
size width="1024" height="80"/
3) set width an height = 0 like this:
rhythm
size width="0" height="0"/
4) save the .xml file
Good luck

@Peroz: I am not sure but although you take off that window, atomix still does the same internal process.

Why not remove the entire rhythm-element?
But I think Coco is right... that atomixmp3 will still do the calculations for the rhythm-element. But it's worth a try.

Yea coco: you are right!
However i think it could help anyway, expecially for the videocard.
