Topic: Atomix won't recognize new soundcard drivers...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Okay, a while ago I installed a SoundBlaster 32AWE and a SoundBlaster 16AWE into my Pentium 333 and after some time my 32AWE started to sound funny. There was a slight but deffinant hissing (or scrathing) noise. I figured it was a flualty card and trashed it. Now I have a SoundBlaster Live! and the older 16AWE. The 16AWE has now developed the hissing again. I now know that it works fine when using Winamp (and I shouldn't have thrown out the 32AWE card!). I think it may be becuase under sound config in Atomix it still lists the 16AWE card as the old 32AWE. Could this be it? I have reinstalled Atomix and the soundcard drivers to no avial. What should I do?

Thanks heaps and keep up the hard work,

Rick.

P.S. I purchased Atomix and have not got a 'cracked' version.

Ok first you should clean up and update all your drivers (the 32 AWE shouldn't be listed).

If I were you I wouldn't plug 2 sound blaster cards because sometimes there are conflicts between IRQs or drivers. I suggest you to use only the SB Live !

And install the last directx.

Hope that helps !
