Just try altering the pitch range and the results should be self-explanatory. Increasing or decreasing the pitch, increases or decreases the speed respectively. Changing the speed of a tune is known as altering the pitch due to the pitch of a note increasing when it is speeded up, and decreasing when it is slowed down. Voices get a higher pitch when speeded up causing them to sound chipmunky, and when slowed down the pitch decreases, making the voice deeper.

Having a pitch range of 8% allows you to speed up or slow down the tune by that percentage. i.e. a 100BPM tune can be pitched up to a maximum of 108BPM. A 140BPM tune to 151.2BPM. Altering the pitch is vital for beatmatching, as each beat from one song needs to coincide with the beat of the other song, with the correct spacing between beats so as to stop off-beats.
