As a Home Plus (legacy) licensed user, you will not hear the sound drop if your controller is connected.

So I rarely use my controller and this has never happened before. Is it because of the new update? Is there a way to shut it off like it was before?

But as said above, all you need to do is to plug the Controller for which you paid for the Plus License.

And we just changed that for now, old PLUS licenses will not get the audio drop even if the controller is not plugged in.
