Topic: iTunes / Apple Music playlists
So Apple has decided we can't use iTunes any more and as a PC user, Apple Music app is CRAP!!

All my VDJ playlists are read from iTunes, it's worked seamlessly for years. All my music is locally saved, ie no streaming. I've searched the forums in vain for my burning questions... hopefully someone here can shed some light.

Is there a VDJ update that enables reads the Apple Music playlists? Clearly anything added now will be in the AM file not the iTunes library.xml file. Right??

OR is there another music library that will not only import my playlists, but that can be read by Virtual DJ? I should point out that my DJ laptop has quite an old version of VDJ on it (v8.3 b4787). It's worked brilliantly since I installed if it ain't broken, don't fix it (Apple take note). This issue has only been caused by an Apple software update! Obviously what I don't want to do is update VDJ and be left with no playlists.

I always have a safety copy of the library.xml file BUT I didn't have a safe library.itl file. So having opened the new iTunes (the one that now doesn't support music), an older version won't open because it can't read the .itl file. Yea yea, I KNOW NOW!!!! FFS

I've been considering moving away from Apple for quite a while now, this really has been the last straw.

Thanks for any thoughts

I saw a video where they say to delet the old itl library and letting the installation make a new one.

I know the music will still be there, however I don't know if that could destroy the playlists I've made.

To sum it up:

I can't import music into the iTunes because now the "Auto Add music to Apple Music" goes to a new "Music" folder that cuts off any other folder under the iTunes Media folder including the main "Music" folder for iTunes.

New music can be added and seen in Apple Music app, but none of the new music can be reached in VDJ

We can only see the iTunes music we've had until now on VDJ.

Navigating "Drives" in the VDJ browser doesn't allow access to any music in an Apple folder.

I hope the developers are aware of this.

I'm struggling here too.

Since updating my mac to Sequoia my VDJ seems to be looking at an old "iTunes Library.xml" which brings up 90% of my MP3s. The other 10% are files that are not working because they are new or have been moved on the HD. "Music" is not updating this file so VDJ is not registering any changes.

Is there a way to fix this or a new file to point at?

Since macOS 10.15 VDJ just requests files and playlists from the Music app directly, so there's no more specific file to point to, and it should see whatever you see in the Music app.
