Hi team,
I'm struggling with my "comment" tags...
I tagged files from VDJ, but "comment" field appears empty outside VDJ (either in Explorer or in Engine DJ).
getCommentFromTags is set on "yes":

I've launched batch/reload tags on my whole collection just to be sure!
In Explorer (same in Engine DJ):

In VDJ:

What did I miss?
Thanks

Comments are a strange tag Field that you must know how to handle.
Each tag can have multiple comment frames.
VirtualDJ shows the first "non empty" comment I think, while explorer shows the "first" comment frame even if it's empty.
Open tag editor in VirtualDJ.
Click inside the "Comment" field and check if a drop down arrow appears on the right.
If it does, use it to see the various different comment frames.
If it doesn't, then your comment frame may not be recognized from Windows.
Select the "comment" text, copy it on clipboard, and press the X button to remove the comment frame.
Then click inside the comment filed and paste the text you copied before.
This will generate a NEW standard comment frame that should be recognized be Windows.
Let us know if any of this helps, as there's more things to be said about this matter once we find out what's wrong.
PS: VirtualDJ Tag Editor cannot be used to add multiple comment frames.
Only to edit one.

Thanks for your answer.
There is no dropdown in this field, neither before, neither after the delete-recreate sequence.
And, therefore, it's still not recognize by Windows.
So I'm ready for the next steps!
NB: I tried another thing: deleting tags from VDJ, creating tag in Explorer (single first line), reloading tags in VDJ: the tag appears (but no dropdown).

Drop down should appear ONLY if the tag has multiple comment frames.
As I said, VirtualDJ is not designed to add multiple comment frames on the tags.
However, if multiple comments exist, it does show them.
So, deleting the comment, saving the tag, re-opening the file on tag editor, creating a "new" comment and saving again does not solve your issue ?

Perhaps you can send us such a file to take a look ?

I'll send this to support in a few hours, being away from my drive right now.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks for the files, however both files you sent show the comments fine in windows explorer properties, MPC-HC and VirtualDJ here.
Further checking the files, they seem very similar as well (both only having one regular comment tag)

I missed a step in Engine DJ (“reimport track information", which is more or less the equivalent of VDJ's “reload tags”). So, comments appear in Engine DJ ✅
Yet, comments are still missing in W11 File Explorer 😬
I've not been able to understand why, nor fixing it. I supposed that File Explorer is not reading the right ID3 tag version, but this is just a hypothesis.
If anyone has an idea: welcome!
