I have been having an issue whereby my tags would go missing.
Everything is tagged with artist, title genre and year. After a while some of the
tags would disappear.
I have contacted support without a resolution. They quit responding.
Here are the emails:

I write the tags, save them. After a week or so they go missing. Sometime the tag info is below the (genre or year) box.
How can I stop this from happening?

Hello,
How are you writing to tags? Additional what file type are you writing tags to? Some file types have tag fields that are actually not available to written to.

I attached two files for you. I am writing to tags. all items are MP3.
Also putting info in proper fields. IE Genre, Year< Artist, Title.

Hello,
Please note that when submitting screen captures it would be more helpful to submit a capture of the entire VDJ screen instead of just a small portion as I might be able to see something in another part of skin instead what you are only focusing on.
From what I can see:
Your first screen capture shows tags are written properly:

I know the tags are correct. Problem is they go missing.
First picture Genre was tagged now missing.
Second one everything tagged correctly but now missing artist, genre and year.
This is the problem I have. Everything is tagged buit after a while the tag information goes missinning.

This is a follow-up to your previous request #173673 "I write the tags, save the…"Asking once again if you are able to help with this problem. It is still happening.

Without proper information and maybe investigation from your part, we cannot answer that question.
Generally speaking, tags don't just "disappear". We have thousands of users, and this is not a known problem.
Also personally, I'm a tag freak, and any "tag info loss" would be immediately noticeable.
This means that your problem is specific to you. Something on your workflow (most likely), on the various software you use (less likely) or even on your gear (even less likely) is causing some of your files to miss their tag data.
Before we start investigating your workflow, please let us know what your settings regarding tags are.
Especially setTagsAuto
Also keep in mind the following:
Based on the above info, you can start thinking of your workflow, what you do and how you operate the software. Then maybe you can find a possible cause of your issue, or something that was common for all files that missed part of their info (e.g. moved manually from folder A to folder B)

Also keep in mind the following:
- VirtualDJ reads the tags of your files only the first time it sees them. It writes their info in its own database, and doesn't bother with tags again.
- VirtualDJ uses it's own database for ALL of it's operations. It does not read the tags for ANY operation.
- VirtualDJ will read the tags of a track again ONLY if you manually initiate a tags reload
- VirtualDJ will not automatically write data on your tags if setTagsAuto is disabled. This means that when you use Tag Editor to edit information about your track, you have to manually update the tag of the file. If you don't so, it is absolutely possible that VirtualDJ database and your tags are not holding the same information for the same track.
- If setTagsAuto is enabled, VirtualDJ updates automatically the tags of the files on any change. It updates ALL the tag fields with the info it has in it's database.
- VirtualDJ identifies files at first by their full filename. However, VirtualDJ also identifies files by their filename and size. This matters ONLY if you move / rename / delete files outside VirtualDJ itself.
The reason it matters is that in rare cases, if you move a file outside VirtualDJ, VirtualDJ can detect "new" files as "missing" older files, and therefore merge the information it holds about these tracks.
Which, in combination with setTagsAuto can result in an undesired change in tags.
However, this is an extreme case scenario.
Based on the above info, you can start thinking of your workflow, what you do and how you operate the software. Then maybe you can find a possible cause of your issue, or something that was common for all files that missed part of their info (e.g. moved manually from folder A to folder B)

Have you tried taking incremental database backups to see where the tags go missing?
I've been on the same DB since 2008 and never had any tag issues.

Never had this issue either. I'll try checking the tags as you suggested
