Topic: Distortion ColorFX issue (affecting sound when set to zero)
Whilst playing around with the ColorFX recently, and bringing up their GUIs, I noticed that the distortion ColorFX (when the 'distortion' amount in the GUI is raised) distorts the audio when enabled, even though the ColorFX dial on the channel is centred (off).

Surely the distortion should not be applied (even with the amount turned up via the GUI) with the ColorFX knob centred?

Any comments or feedback about this?

colorfx dial isn't the final say the fx gui is.
An fx slot dial is the same but because an fx slot dial is 1 to 1 linked to a single fx dial, changes on the fx gui are shown on the fx slot dial, colorfx are often scaled and control several fx dials at once so changes aren't carried back to the color dial.

The GUI is also not available for color fx from the default drop-down or skin, exactly because color fx are supposed to be single-knob operated.

Sorry but it doesn't make logical sense to me.

In the center position the effect is supposed to be off (even the description says "nothing applied at 50%") and that's clearly not happening - unless the GUI knobs are lowered, but they're "not available" so the user can lower them.

Result = distortion in the off position.

But how did you manage to raise the 'distortion' amount without opening the GUI in the first place?

The actual fx gui doesn't even know the colorfx dial exists, the colorfx dial is just script (and a hidden filter), it's not linked both directions.

Well I can see I'm getting nowhere here, but to me (and probably most people) if an effect is supposed to be OFF then it shouldn't be ON.

The fx is on when it's selected on the colour dial (depending on filter_activate), when the color dial is moved to 0.5 it has no affect to the sound, but the fx is still on.
You controlled the fx via an unintended and undocumented route, script descriptions are wrote to be simple explainers, not every detail.

If it was undocumented, how did I know what script to use for accessing the GUI?

It's public knowledge.

If it's unintended, why make it possible to access the ColorFX GUI?

Why have a GUI for those FX if it's not supposed to be used?

I think the description in VDJ needs to be changed, from "nothing applied at 50%" to "sometimes the effects will still be on even when they're supposed to be off" :-)

Because they used the ready template of normal fx, that's why there a gui.

And I'm sure that description will bring clarity to the 6 people who know of colorfx gui and confusion to everybody else.
