Topic: Serato Timecode lead-out does not auto switch to Internal Mode playback when in Smart Mode
This issue was already brought up sometimes before in different posts, but I wanted to bring back attention to this in a dedicated post.

The Timecode lead-out loop does not auto change the deck playback to internal when using Serato timecode (I saw this with CV 2.5 - I don't have CV 2 records to test with - lifting the needle stops the track in the lead-out loop). The lead-in works to play the track from the beginning.

Everything works well with VirtualDJ timecode vinyl (lead-in = restart track, lead-out loop = internal mode play).

Can you check the time the lead out starts in the timecode page in options?

I don't see a lead-out time, only a lead-in time

I mean check in the timecode tab where it shows the callibration, when the record actually reaches the lead out, which time it says it's on

The timecode tab shows the lead out at 10'00 (I double checked with Serato's switch time too), which is the first close set of tracks closer to the end of the record.

Just bringing back attention to this. it's not overly important as I use VirtualDJ timecode, but did the requested timings help?

Looks like the difference is due to VirtualDJ timecode not having an endless loop with timecode, but Serato timecode does.
Therefore the timecode still allows control including stop/play/scratch, which is why it does not go entirely in internal mode.

@Adion that's correct (it keeps in the loopout) however Serato still does the internal mode change on the 10 minute mark.

But I don't think it's really needed then anyway?
You can do any control you need in the lead out loop?

That's true, but if one would want to move the needle back in inyo the regular section (for e.g. to avoid bumping the needle or skips as it's closer to the center), they'd have to do the whole process of disabling timecode processing to move it, as opposed to the software dojng the auto switch and the user just being able to move the needle without song interruption.

It's a rare thing yes (it does feel like if you let the needle get that far you fell asleep at the wheel) but it is a thinf that seems to be done with the VirtualDJ timecode and in the other software that timecode was designed for.

There's probably more risk of a small jump/pitch change when re-positioning the needle while live than just letting it sit in the lead-out loop though, and normally it would only be a few minutes before changing songs and you can reposition the needle no?

I agree but isn't that the same story for VirtualDJ time code?

I guess what I'm asking is - why would we want the behavior for VirtualDJ timecode but not Serato timecode?

Because VirtualDJ vinyl doesn't have an endless timecode loop in the last groove

So I guess you're saying the switch isn't necessary because of the loop - I agree with that.

I guess for me it's just different to the Serato behaviour (internal mode switch is done there), and to move the needle back (for me it's harder to do manipulations at that point on the record) I would have to transition to another deck (regularly or clone deck) or switch off timecode processing to move it, while autoswitch is a bit more convenient.
It's not a dealbreaker for me either way, just a bit more inconvenient, and I have to remember that difference when using Serato Timecode.
