Topic: VMS4.1 Controller, ref; current users
Is there a reason that the VMS4.1 is discontinued? What alternative is there for those that still use this controller? Such as license, use of the controller, etc. Thank you.

The hardware manufacture decides that...VirtualDJ has no control over that decision, but there could be many reasons. At the end of the day they want to be profitable and not have to support legacy too long.

If you can still get a workable driver for your OS, and you have a licence to use it (Home Plus licenced to it, Pro subscriber, Pro Infinity) you can still keep using the controller.
If one of those two previous points is incorrect, or you just want to switch controllers, take you pick from the vast list:

Similar modern controllers with 4 decks and that small form factor would be things like the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro, Reloop Mixon 4 and Reloop Touch.

As a Home Plus user, you'll probably have to contact support to see how they can transfer your licence usage to the new controller. Pro Subscriber and Pro Infinity users don't have to do anything further...they work with all supported controllers.

We ARE NOT Alpha Theta!
We would never drop support of a device, "just to be profitable"
VirtualDJ has not dropped support of ANY device the last few years, let alone VMS4.1
In fact, VirtualDJ has dropped support only of specific DRIVERS of 4 specific devices, in the last 10 years.

Hardware manufacturers can and will stop producing given models in order to bring newer/better ones in the market. There's nothing wrong with that.
However the "old" gear will keep working with VirtualDJ for as long it's physically capable to do so (don't ask us for spare parts :P)

@PhantomDeejay thank you for the clarification πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎ

By "they" in that sentence I meant the hardware manufacturers, not VirtualDJ.

You guys have one of the nice selling points of "if you can get a working driver for it on your machine, and VirtualDJ supports it + the device...it works".
That is truly respectable and maybe understated - it gives us as consumers a bit more power to choose and stick with hardware on our terms.
