For my laptop it will take "ages" to finnish the stems preparation. Is it possible to temporarily interrupt the process?

Yes
Navigate to your Stems Virtual folder at the bottom of folder list.
From the Right click menu choose either: "Pause Preparing Stems" or "Cancel Preparing Stems"
NOTE: the Cancel option was added BUILD 7468 (2023-02-23)
