Topic: A&H Xone K2 Definition File
JirSimPRO InfinityMember since 2021
Hi,

I have bought 2 A&H Xone K2. From these 2 pieces I would like to buid a 4 channel midi mixer, that has enough potenciometers to control all stems.

I have tried it with 1 piece only, but it was not ok - only 3 potenciometers for channel.

I have read that I have to make definitions file for midi controler (xone k2) and then I have to map it. For this Reason I would like to edit existing definition file for xone k2, but I can not find this file.

Can someone tell me, how can i do it?

I would like to edit this file - I want to add there all faders/potenciometers/buttons together with 2 new midi channels.
I.E. Channel 1 for the first Xone k2 and Channel 2 for the second Xone k2.

I would like to connect both xone k2 together via Xlink.

Can someone help me. Thank you very much.

I found out that xoneK2 definition file is in SW integrated - is possible to edit this "file"? (How to do it?)

Most likely you don't need to update the definition, you just need to edit the mapping

It does not work. I want do this:
- The first XoneK2 controls deck 3 and 1
- The second XoneK2 controls deck4 and 2

I wanted to use it like 1 device connected via USB and Xlink. I have to change midi channels on both units and make own mapping ...

You could try to connect them both with USB, then you can just select the decks within vdj for each device.

I have replied to your email. I dont think you will get any help in the forums, as your case is very special. Best would be to continue this via our support emails.

FYI, user wants to connect 2 K2s to his A&H Xone 96 via XLINK. Since the K2s are not connected via USB, VDJ doesnt know that any K2s are connected, so there has to be a Xone 96 definition which includes all the K2 keys.
We have prepared some files for the user, but most likely he hasn't followed instructions.

2 x K2s ? LINK connection with which A&H mixer (or not one) ?, What decks u wish to control ?

Basically I would like to do this:

XoneK2-Device2-Deck4: o o o o ---I--- #### #
XoneK2-Device2-Deck4: o o o o ---I--- #### o
XoneK2-Device2-Deck2: o o o o ---I--- #### o
XoneK2-Device2-Deck2: o o o o ---I--- #### #

XoneK2-Device1-Deck1: o o o o ---I--- #### #
XoneK2-Device1-Deck1: o o o o ---I--- #### o
XoneK2-Device1-Deck3: o o o o ---I--- #### o
XoneK2-Device1-Deck3: o o o o ---I--- #### #

o - potenciometer
# - button
I - fader

I had to draw it vertically, because horizontally it does not look good like text. The Device1 ist on the left side and the Device2 ist on the right side.

The "best" option to connect 2 XoneK2:

[PC] ---usb--- XoneK2 ---Xlink--- XoneK2

The second option:

XoneK2 ---usb --- [PC] ---usb--- XoneK2

What has bigger priority? The definition file inside of VDJ or my own file, that I make?

<device name="Xone K2" ....

@JirSim vdj takes priority unless your def file name starts with "Force-"

@MEDIUM777 I have some Test files for you, should i use the email of your VDJ account ? If not, send me a PM with the correct one.

2 DJDAD:

Thank you very much. I sent you a PM. Do you have VDJ internal definitions file for XoneK2?
Maybe I can edit it and place it into C:\Users\...\Documents\VirtualDJ\Devices with the name Force-XoneK2

Thank you very much. 2x XoneK2 are working very well. If I have time I have to continue to develop my mapping ...

I dont like SHIFT function and for this Reason I got an Idea to use 3x Xone K2.
I know, how to edit definition file for buttons and faders, but how can I do it for LEDs for example on MIDI CHANNEL 12?
