Topic: Machine specific settings.xml and licence.dat? - Page: 2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

They must have been formatted exFat when I got them.

I will have a read through all this again and decide which way to go.

Thanks for your help.

license.dat on windows is stored in LocalAppData as well btw, so as long as you limit to 2 computers it should not ask to login again even when the license.dat in the vdj home folder changes.
(This change was made for drop box or other cloud synchronization, but the problem should be the same as in your case where you move the vdj home folder to different computers)

Yes, I did notice a copy in there and wondered what it was for.

I will try that and see if it works.

What about individual settings.xml ..... if you could change the file name or location per computer that would work perfectly and I could use the likes of Dropbox for all my VDJ files (or just continue with the home folder on the SSD). Problem currently is that both computers require different column widths and text sizes.

Thanks Adion

Symbolic (and hard) links are useful things - I use them on my home PC, because C: is only a small SSD containing the OS - but so many s/w installations default to installing everything on C:

So what I did was rerouted things so that s/w installs on D: (but thinks it's installing on C:). It works well.
