Being into scratch my first choice of needles is the shure m477 now this choice is based in the analogue days (good bass response, low record wear) but times have moved on, the m477 has a upper freq of 16kHz so not great for trancey stuff in thru play.
Away from sound from the groove, dvs doesn't need hifi, just good response in the 1 to 2 kHz, so at that point I'd say record wear becomes more important.
Given that practicing a break chase routine I can back track a record (tc) hundreds of times, what needle is gentlist on the vinyl but also tough (as in not going to burn out in a month?
Any ideas?
ps. It's still the m447 isn't it

People still use shure 447 if you use dvs I would recommend Ortofon Concorde MkII Digital

Ortofon should indeed be good for wear if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I'll research those, I thought the concords are elliptical (not best with back tracking afaik)
