When using Karaoke and loading the song on the left deck the bottom left video is ok and bright but the top box is sort of grayed out and you can hardly see the words which transfers to the TV the same way.

Probably you have the Volume Fader not at the maximum position, so the Master Video Output "fades to black". You can change this default behavior and unlink the Video Output from the Volume Faders by changing the setting VideoVolumeLink to No (from VDJ Settings->OPTIONS tab
