Topic: Windows 10, Software and Pioneer hardware issue?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I do not have a problem (yet), but do I have to worry?

Part of the message on the Pioneer site:

November 11, 2016

Important information for customers using DJ applications on Windows® 10, connected to Pioneer DJ equipment:

It’s been reported that DJ applications running on certain versions of Windows® 10 aren’t currently detecting Pioneer DJ equipment. This is caused by the new security policy in Windows® 10.

We’ll keep you updated on when and how this issue will be resolved. It’s currently planned to be fixed around late November.
Sometimes other issues can cause the same symptom to occur. In these cases, the problem can be solved by following the steps detailed here.

I am not aware of such issues with vdj, and I'm not sure what these new security policy could be referring to...

The list of (possible) affected products is quite large...

I just tried my DDJ-RZ out after reading your message (and the original on the Pioneer site). Still working fine, both with Rekordbox DJ and Virtual DJ.

This is with Windows 10 64 bit 1607.

I have build 1607 for a while now and never had problems, but I received firmware updates for my Pioneer products a few days before this message came.

I installed all firmware updates immediately so I'm curious if all my gear still work...

Windows 10 is a constantly moving target. One of the many reasons I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I'm certainly not going to take the chance of my gear "just not working" one day when I turn up at a gig.

My gig machine is running Windows 8.1 with automatic updates disabled, and should anything else screw up I have a "clean install" image with all software loaded that I can roll back to in less than 30 minutes if required.

I especially bought a notebook with a Windows 10 PRO license instead of the "home license" computers because of the forced updates of Win 10.
With the Pro version of Windows 10 you CAN disable Windows updates if you want. I haven't done this yet, because the Win10 updates until now are very welcome updates.

If I ever notice a problem because of the windows update(s) I will click on go back to previous system point (before that particular updates) and will disable Windows Updates immediately.

I'm pretty sure M$ changed the policy so it's only enterprise versions that can escape the dreaded Windows 10 automatic updates.

I take every update, and keep on moving. These people know more than I do, so I accept every update from Microsoft and 10 works on all three of my machines. I don't own any Pioneer gear except the RMX1000, but understand that a few people are having issues with their gear. I don't know if it's Win, VDJ, Pioneer, or a combination of some or all of them. If other gear is working, maybe take a look at Pioneer, since that is the common denominator.

Great advise, love those kind of tips.
Please keep em coming!!

I got a few serious MS updates yesterday on my Win10 laptop... Looked like a new build because of the time it was consuming for installing while rebooting...
It isn't a new build, but I will definitely connect all my gear again tonight to see if it still works... #crossfingers

Tested:

Notebook up to date with all windows 10 64bit updates until November 17.

No problems in windows device management with my xdj's 700, ddj-sz or djm-900nxs2 (all devices have the latest drivers and firmware installed)

And.... not one problem with current virtual DJ build 3471 (not early access build)
