Thought it would be easier to start a new thread.
I have a djm 600 with 2 cdj 400 using vdj8.
I am connected to the Rec out from the djm 600 into the line in, (jack) on my Windows 10 laptop.
The sound quality is perfect however I use the volume faders not the cross fader, either way I have tried both you can hear my cueing the next sound when playing back the recording.
It's like the laptop has no idea when the volumes are up or down on the 2 decks.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I only use it at home so not massively computer savvy so any explanations would be handy in the simplest form.
Thanks again.

You will have to add a "record" line toVirtualDJ Audio setup
So probably you have something like..
deck 1 .... CDJ400 ... chans1,2
deck 2... CDJ400... chans 3,4
you need to add a line like ..
record .... Your Built-in sound card ... Chans 1,2 (or could be 3,4, whatever Chans are for the Line In)

How to I post a photo on here.
I have tried that and nothing?
If I put deck 2 on channel 3-4 then click apply the deck then stops coming out the speakers.

The record comes from the microphone/line in on the laptop and out the mixer through rec out.

So I have,
Cdj 400 ----- channel 1 cdj/line in
Cdj 400 ----- Chanel 2 cdj/line in
Rec out, phono to jack, jack going into the laptop.
Vdj 8
Deck 1 ---cdj 400 wasapi ----- channel 1&2
Deck 2 ---2cdj 400 wasapi -----channel 1&2
Record --- microphone/line in Channel 1&2
If I change these then the music stops coming out the speakers.
Hope this gives a clearer imagine.
Driving me mad.

Home licence users can't post bb code or pictures you'll have to host your screen shots on something like tiny pic and link to them.

I'll have to just leave it as the above explanation, all this goes above me.
This is a nightmare, wish there was a help line to talk me through set up.

are you a home user cause i wasn't aware you could do a external mixer setup as a home user?

I have cdj 8 infinity. I can record everything just can't set it up so the laptop knows when the volumes are up and down, it's like the laptop think the volumes are on full all the time.

We need to see your audio config, an actual screenshot.
Posted Wed 03 Aug 16 @ 5:40 am
I have no idea how to do that using tiny pic that's the problem.
Posted Wed 03 Aug 16 @ 5:54 am
If anyone would like to be a massive help and sent me there email address it would be much easier as I'm struggling to use this forum being a home user or whatever the reason is I can't upload things.
Thanks
Thanks

how do you have vdj pro and only have a home licence, have you actual bought a vdj licence

I am a bit confused. I thought that you had a proper audio setup/routing and all you wanted was to record your mix, but it appears that you have an issue even routing sound properly.
So i ll try to explain how the proper audio setup should be ..
1. connections
- RCA cable from 1st CDJ to Input Channel 1 of mixer
- RCA cable from 2nd CDJ to Input Channel 2 of mixer
- Speakers connected to the Master Output of the Mixer
- USB cables from both CDJs to Laptop.
2. Audio setup.
- Install Pioneer CDJ400 ASIO from pioneer website.
- Open VirtualDJ 8, goto to Audio tab and click on the special CDJ400 button you should see under CARd tab.
This should provide..
deck 1 .... CDJ400 ASIO ... Chans 1,2
deck 2 ... CDJ400 ASIO ... Chans 1,2 (or 3,4 cant recall , i believe the ASIO combines the 2 sound cards into 1, so it should be 3,4)
This should provide proper audio routing to your speakers through the mixer.
Now, the only addition you should do in order to record your mix, is to connect the REC/BOOTH Out of your mixer with the LINE IN of your lapto using a proper RCA to mini jack cable.
and add a record line to your VDJ Audio setup as posted above.
Note. In order to get this extra line, you will need to click on the Line or Microphone button at the tor-right, and then change the provided line with record (instead of Mic or Linein) so that it looks like this..
record ... Your Builtin Sound card ... Chans 1,2
Last but not least, all mixing should be done from your ext mixer. The VirtualDJ mixer should not be used and it should be left in center/default positions.
Pre-listening is also done via your mixer
Note. As stated above from other users, you will need to purchase a Pro Infinity license (or a Plus Controller for the CDJs) in order to work with your gear for more than 10mins at a time.
PS. If you want post screenshots here, you will have to upload pics to some server or Dropbox and provide the link here.

I have vdj 8 infinity,
I thought I was told I can't post screen shots on hear as I'm a home user or something.
I have a proper set up as you have stated, I'm running 2 cdj 400 through my djm mixer with 2 Krk rokit G3.
I have it all set up properly as you have stated, the sound is all bang on, the phono from the rec out of my djm goes into my laptop via the jack plug.
When I'm on vdj I hit record, have a mix, then when j listen to the recording there is no difference in volume, so you can hear me cueing the next song, it's as if the volume faders are doing nothing and the laptop thinks that both volumes are on full.
Hope this makes more sense.
Thank you

I suppose that is happening because you use an external mixer mode audio setup (all the mixing and pfl is done in the real mixer not in vdj mixer). The recording is taking signal from the both decks wright now. You have to set the line-in input of the laptop (not cdj) as the record source.

Hi.
Yes that sounds right,
Any ideas how I do that on the laptop? Hp running Windows 10?
