Forum: Wishes and new features

Topic: Spotify is on Djay Pro - why not Virtual DJ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Huge wish for a new feature is spotify integration. Come on guys!! It's about time. If Djay Pro can do it with their $50 app why can't you?

Section 4 of the Spotify terms of use states it is for non commercial or public use.

It is a grey area though, but Content Unlimited is fully licensed for DJ use.

Long running thread here:

The long and short of it is as Keith says - it's not legal for use for public performances. If you ask Algoriddim they say to ask Spotify, and if you ask Spotify then they say no.

yeah they would get a lot more people to pay for spotify if they changed there rules to the game because its almost hit or miss on content unlimited some of the content should not be on there example regular people singing popular songs listing the song and title as it should be you play it and WHAT THE.... lol sad but true

I hear ya on that "WHAT THE..."
Last night I had a request for the Cowboy Charleston (country line dance). I knew that was the "steps" not the actual name of a song that is used for it. But for chuckles I searched Cowboy Charleston and one of the Content Unlimited offerings was the audio off a step by step instruction on how to do the dance-- no music-- just talk.
I use Content Unlimited with extreme caution. Go for a likely suspect-- download it-- listen to it darn near in entirety via the cache-- and then cross my fingers and hit play.
Meanwhile I have another song cued up in case this goes wonky on me.

Sounds like you guys were pulling tracks from Netsearch (purple icon) rather than actual content unlimited tracks (red icons).

Netsearch is provided free to CU subscribers but you should use caution as netsearch pulls content from all over the internet.

You should not have any issues with the red icon files.

Thanks for the red icon files tip!
Somehow, I missed that --- and now that I know to look for it I feel much more secure.

As a second thought, -- How can I modify my preferences options to show me only the true Content Unlimited options?
During a gig I really don't want to be playing guessing games.
I like Content Unlimited and the monthly fee is highly affordable -- No complaints at all.
But-- I don't want to be distracted by non-CU suggestions from Netsearch in the middle of a gig.

The button next to search bar. There is an option to turn off netsearch.

Could not find it in the manual.
