Hey team,
Happy day or evening to anyone reading!
All has been glorious and trouble free with the new VDJ, until just a few days ago.
I put together a new set, and for the life of me, my hot Cues won't save.
In the interest of answering questions, I have reinstalled, I have utilized the advice set in the other threads relating to this issue, and as I was in the habit of changing the pad colors anyways, typically renamed all my cue points through the POI editor.
And yet, despite settings and tweaks and whatnot, I can no longer set any hot cue points that will save if I shut down and restart VDJ.
I read on one thread that VDJ can only accommodate 99 Hot Cue points in a library.... Is that accurate?
If so that may simply be the case, and I will be less liberal with my points.
If it's not though, I would so totally appreciate any ideas and feedback.
Even just knowing it's a bug would be good, at least I could move on and await a fix. As long as the solution may lie with me, I feel compelled to try to solve it :)
Thanks for info and help everyone.

Hello
Just to make sure: It is the hot cues, right? Because the regular cue is considered temp in V8, and is not saved. In v7 the regular cue was also put in hot cue 1 and therefore saved
I think the 99 hot cue limit is pr. track

1) The 99 cues limit is per track
2) Check the "readOnly" setting. If it's set to yes then any changes you make on your database won't save.
3) If the readOnly setting is set to no and you're on Windows please check the VirtualDj's home folder (Documents\VirtualDj) NTFS security rights. Make sure that the "Administrators" group has full read\write access to it.
Finally: Keep in mind that as Klaus said, CUE and hot cues are 2 different things in VirtualDj.
Cues are temp. Hot Cues are permanent. So, in order to save a cue, after you set it, you need to press on of the hotcue pads on your controller. Once you do so, the cue will save on the hotcue slot.
For your convenience, if you only use one cue per track, you should store it on hotcue 1 pad and you can change the default loading method of the tracks (through settings->autocue) to always load on first cue-point.
This way each time you load a track it will be automatically cued on hotcue 1

To be accurate, make sure the user you logged in with has read/write access.
Administrators don't have to have full read/write access, unless you explicitly launch VirtualDJ as administrator, which is usually not required.

If I'm not wrong, the "typical" user on a Windows system uses an administrator account.
With that in mind, the user is also member of "Administrators" group.
If the user does not use an administrator account then he won't be able to change the rights anyway from his account and he'll have to log-in with his administrator account.

For anyone reading, Phantom DJ's and Aidon's steps nailed it on the head. thanks Klaus for the clarification of the 99 points issue :)
Keep in mind that this solution is for Windows 10 and primarily revolved around permissions to the entire C: drive, and not just the Virtual DJ folder.
my solution was to go to the actual drive letter and make sure that my permissions as an admin, AS WELL as a "user", were all set to "full control" of all aspects of the C Drive.
My user identity was sent to read only. please also be aware that for reasons i am unclear of, it took more than one try to get the "read only" status off the drive.
from what i have read on other Windows forums it's a common bug, and all this did happen in the days following a windows update. perhaps it will be a non issue in the future.
at any rate, ensure those settings have all been adjusted within your computer, and then follow Phantom DJ's steps.
Go to options (make sure "show advanced" is checked), "Browser" and look for "readonly" near the top, and set that to "no"
then go a couple more down and "setTagsAuto" and hit yes.
(I set VDJ to write my cues to the actual file tags, and not just the database. If i am not mistaken i believe that may solve another issues people were having where the cue points didn't transport into other software. hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.)
things are going swimmingly now. thanks again, and to anyone else, check your OS before you do anything else and make sure those permissions apply to everything.

Most users by default are indeed part of the Administrators group, but I think by default you do not have access to these permissions unless granted through UAC, or by explicitly opening a program as Administrator.
So it's either your User, the Users group, or All Users that need write permission in order for VDJ to be able to write settings.
(Take a look at the Program Files folder permissions for example, Administrators has full control, but Users only have read permissions. If you start VirtualDJ normally, you will not be able to copy any files into the program files folder, even though your user is also part of the Administrators group)

I have a pioneer ddj sr and VDJ8.2 and want to save cue points permanently I assume its the same as the sz just want to clarify with everybody that this is the right way
Load up the track and find your marker point and hit the normal cue button (which is only a temp store) if I then press the hot key (pad 1) and hold for 4 secs it saves that cue point if i use the jog wheel to find me next cue point and do the same thing but on pad 2 it saves that one and so so in theory I could have 8 cue points stored every time I load that track up in future. What I would like clarifying when I load that track up in my next set will it load the full track right from the beginning and when I press the specific hot cue it takes me to that point stored.I would prefer it to load the track in full and for me to choose which hot cue I want to use and not take me to any is that possible.
Thanks
Pete

Is this still true? I could have sworn one of my projects with 1200+ hotcue points/track worked.
