Topic: VDJ 8 Crash - Suspect Driver/USB error

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011)
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
10 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
SSD 1TB
USING VIRTUAL DJ 8.1 and Pioneer XDJ-RX (mapped to VDJ) (Running this configuration for almost a year no problems)

Hi all, I had a very rare crash tonight, 2 hours into my set the laptop just went funny and died. After several attempts to turn it on nothing was happening and the screen was all distorted. I thought it was a hard drive failure but after doing CMD+R it rebooted eventually and came back to life, I thought I was back in action but when I opened VDJ the screen went black, then blue and I had to do another reset.
Again I got it back up and running and went to play music, then the output was distorted... (sound works fine when playing through internal speakers)

Is this a driver/USB issue? (USB lead is a few months old, very good quality)
Has anyone seen this issue before?

Any help I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Sounds to me like it could possibly be an overheating issue.

Computers do very strange things when they get too hot.

Well that is something I suspected too - I was setup under a gas heater for 2 hours! I had gotten it turned off as I was personally too hot.
