remix field = what field in mp3tag or tagnrename? Anybody know the formula? lost all my tags in the remix field and been playing with it and can't figure out what field it is now

From tagging my own library with MP3Tag, there is no Remix field within that programme. If you want VDJ to pick up something and put it in the Remix field,. you need to set it in the Options/Config. For example, if you put Hello (Paul Damixie Remix) as the Title in MP3Tag, if you have set getRemixWhenParsingFilenames to Yes in your options, it will take the parenthesised words and put them in the Remix field.

I tag&rename the "Subtitle" field will be displayed as "Remix" in VDJ.
it can be found under the "edit all supported fields" then "More Additional"

what latest builds are you talking about?
VDJ or Tag&Rename
I have Tag&Rename 3.9.4 and VDJ 8.1 build 2857.1116
have you refreshed your tags in VDJ?
In VDJ
click on a folder (left window) right click "batch", then reload tags
