Ok So i got this week a brand new laptop and tested vdj 8.1 and tried to make it crash. I wanted to see its limits. The video editor has been making vdj crash for so long time and i have made so many posts about it in the past that i ended up buying a brand new PC. Specs: Alienware i7 2,6 ghz quad core. 16 gb ram 3 gb nvidia 970M windows 10 and virtual dj 8.1 (latest public build) installed on a 256 gb SSD drive and mp3s and mp4s on the other internal drive which is a 1 TB 7300 Rpm. I've personally customized this pc to run ONLY vdj. Uninstalled everything i dont need. services disabled and put everything on max performance. The pc opens in less than 10 seconds and vdj in 3 seconds. Opened the video editor while music is playing on decks 1 and tried to match a video with a song and after a couple of minutes vdj crashes and sometimes restarts and continues to play from where it was left off... there was a problem a couple of builds back with the tag editor crashing. i believe its something similar. it is the only thing that i have found that makes vdj crash so far. All my drivers are up to date

I'm sorry, but your computer does not meet the minimum specifications to run Virtual DJ. I'm just kidding, nice computer and good luck. Are you online when your machine crashes?

Yeah im always hooked up on internet! I bought this lappy cause i want to record video and broadcast at the same time. I know i could get a smaller pc but i wanted to be safe than sorry. This pc is super fast. I've never seen anything like this. The only issue is the video editor. Try it on your pc. Use it for a couple of minutes. Try to video edit a song by movng the layer and playing the video from the beginning. After a couple of minutes vdj will crash and restart. Sometimes it just crashes. I hope the devs see my crash report. It crashed 3 times on me today...other than that no problems

Would you believe me if I told you I know nothing about the editors? I just don't have the time to be bothered with all of these options. I pay guys to do that stuff. But, since you asked me, I played a video and clicked on the video editor and BAM it did exactly what you said. I did not get to do anything, just clicked video editor, it closed and opened back up and continued to play. I can confirm that this exist, and maybe one of the smart guys will come in to let us know what's happening. I know this is important to you, and many others here. However, this is not an issue for me, because I will never try this while I'm at a gig, and until it gets fixed, I would advise you not to do it either.

What skin are you using, because I can't repeat using the default skin. It just so happens that I tried it, I was testing another skin.

i am using the fruity v8 skin! Yes that happens too sometimes!!! The video editor is the best tool i've ever seen! who ever came up with it is a genius!! I video mix 3 times a week and i play a lot of songs where there is no video clip so at home i create one by different clips i find on youtube! For me this tool is a blessing! But its so hard to use it because every time i try to use it vdj 8 crashes and i dont get to save my project :( ! it was doing it on my old lappy as well! When i bought the alienware i thought that im gonna have zero issues but it keeps happening! Thank you so much for taking time to confirm this! The only thing that ive found wrong with vdj is this!

Its always disabled! I Never had it enabled! It will crash after a few times you use it! Usually i can save 3 projects and then it will crash.Other times right away! I think there is a memory leak or sth totally wrong with the whole thing...Remember when the tag editor use to crash?

I can't speak for one of the latest builds, because I didn't use the video editor since a couple of builds.
But I know what OP is talking about. The other evening I tried to prepare some tracks and VDJ crashed several times using the video editor.
I quit trying to edit my videos and tried to replicate the issue, but I couldn't.
One time it crashed while trying to resize a video inside the editor. The other time resizing the same video doing the very same steps as before didn't crash the editor. It is just... random.

Finally! I've been posting about this for the last 6 months

Probably because its hard to fix something when not able to reproduce.

I've confirmed it on 2laptops so far.
1st: Sony Vaio i7 2,2 2GB nvidia 540m 8GB ram windows 7 64 bit
2nd: Alienware i7 2,6 3GB nvidia 970m 16 GB ram windows 10 64 bit
It does it after a couple of times and very random. All songs and video are super clean and are located in internal hard drives. It happens even when the controller is not connected. Internet is connected all the time and dxva is turned off. I hope all this helps. You should be able to see my crashguard report. If you want more details let me know. I can upload a video to see it live. I've confirmed it so far with 4 people and I've posted about this on the official fb group.
