This has been happening to me regularly. The video sampler does not work in my VDJ8.
I have the latest software update, I have deleted and created a new sampler bank. Loaded several video samples. When I click on the pad/button, it shows the timeline working, but does not override the video that is playing.
Once and a while it works, but then stops working. I reboot, sometimes it will work, but most of the time it doesn't.
Please help, I would love to be able to use this feature.

What filetype and how large (in MB) are those video samples ?
Do the default (of VIDEO & SCRATCH bank) work ?
Can you upload one of those samples to a server (e.g. Dropbox) and PM me the link ?

Do you have the volume of the sampler up? Try disabling the option 'samplerVideoVolumeLink' and see if the video sample appears then.
