1) Please don't SHOUT

2) The symptom you describe (master volume decreasing) sounds like the VDJ 8 limiter is being activated. This means that your volume and gain levels are too high. Please watch the VU meters as you play and lower your levels.

3) If your cue signal is playing through your speakers, then you have the VDJ audio config set incorrectly. What controller are you using?

4) A Pro/Infinity license (or monthly Pro subscription) is required for professional use. LE or Controller licences are for home use only.

I have a DDJ-SR.

the cue signal is playing through my headphones.

I have the license specifically for my controller, not the Pro.

My headphones are on channel 3&4. Everything else is on 1&2

Yes, which is why I'm saying that it's only for home use (or perhaps the audience you mentioned is in your home?).

What exactly is "everything else" ?
It should be just Master to 1,2 and Headphones to 3,4
Please read the Operation manual to see how the default audio configuration should be .. http://www.virtualdj.com/documents/Pioneer%20DDJ-SR%20VirtualDJ%20Operation%20Guide.pdf
You will also need to install the Pioneer DDJ-SR ASIO drivers from the Pioneer website and make sure both Speakers and Headphones are connected to the DDJ-SR and not to your computer ;)
