Topic: windows 10: unable to save display settings message when attempting to extend monitor

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

The first times extending to a second monitor on a windows 10 laptop was no problem. Tonight (the third time) I could not get the desktop to extend to a second monitor. It was the same TV that I successfully connected to the previous times. I received the message, "unable to save display settings" when attempting to extend to the same monitor. Does anyone have a solution?
