Topic: Its a hot summer for my laptop...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,
I own a hp g60 laptop, works fine with VDJ7 and my Hercules-RMX.
So yesterday i was doing my mixes and suddenly i had a warning message about overheating, causing my laptop to shutdown.
But then i thought about the fact that we had quite hot weather this last days in my area (montreal)
my house is like 40 degrees hot, very humid, no air conditioner.
I tried to put a big fan under my laptop and it got a bit better though..
With that said, is it not such a good idea of working at this temperatures ?

Sergio.

Get a laptop cooler, if your setup allows it, check and clean the fan vents, maybe repaste your cpu, some machines need the soldered joints reflowing, but 40 deg is pretty warm

The Laptop shut down to prevent any damage.
It's possible that this happens in hot areas.
Most manufactures write a "working temperature" into their manuals.

If you constantly face this problem, maybe something like this would be a good investment.

Those are good suggestions.
PachN, that cooler is something :) i will get one of those later, but i did something that didnt cost me a dime.
i was just mixing at home so i dont care about the esthetics details..
I brought a cardboard box from work, 14x12x12, almost the dimensions of my laptop, took a small house fan
(bigger that a PC fan), put it inside the box, made a couple of holes for recirc, and put my laptop on top of it.
temperature went really low, almost none, worked like charm !
but i wouldnt bring that box to work in a wedding party...

Thanks guys :)
