Topic: Crashlog?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am the one who likes to get to the bottom of weird behaviour of my PC VDJ system.
Yesterday I had a strange crash of the entire Windows that I would know what caused it.
I had VDJ8 on for about one hour , no audio , just "standby" - after a while I noticed that the PC screen was black and I noticed the PC had shut itself off.
When starting up the PC again, windows 7 went into the start-up options and I choose "Start windows normally".
Well, my question is: Does windows save any kind of log or report of what caused it to go down?

Depending on what type of error it was would depend on where the error would be kept.
First thing I would do is check the event viewer.

1. Open the Start Menu, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter.

2. If you are logged in as an administrator and prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.

3. In the left pane, click on an event log to see it's events listed at the top of the middle pane.

4. If you like, you could also right click on an event log in the left pane for more options to use. For example, to Filter Current Log or Find a specific event ID number listed in the middle pane.
