Topic: Intel 4000HD and Nvidia 640m on laptop problem.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi.
I have laptop with i5 procesor with Intel 4000hd and Nvidia 640m graphic card. The problem is, that i can not select Nvidias card as main for VDJ. I have tryed everything, but i can not see Nvidia in VDJ settings. There is always Intels card. (Latest drivers instaled)
Do anybody have same problem, Or (best) a solution.

Thank you, Tomas.

Please open your Nvidia Control Center and assign the Nvidia card to the V8.exe.
Switching between the onboad and the dedicated card works not perfect on some systems atm.
Please have also a look how much memory is used for Videoplayback in your settings/ options/ videoMaxMemory
Sometimes the Intel is displayed but the memory of the Nvidia is used.
you can also use this plugin to check which card is used.

The Dev Team is aware of the issue and sure they working on it

Thank you for quick reply. I have already switched to nvidia for V8.exe file but in settings i see Intel 4000 hd. Max memory is 981 witch corespond with 1GB of nvidia, so i dont know. I will try plugin recommended by you and let you know later today.

Thanks again.
Best regards Tomas.

Hi,

To ensure Nvidia would be taken in this dual graphics computer, I suggest you to get the latest:

1) Bios computer update
2) Chipset drivers
3) Video Graphics drivers

All this from the manufacturer website. Then In Nvidia control panel, ADD "virtualdj8.exe" as a high performance program.
