Topic: Is it possible to run VDJ without using I-Tunes?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

HI there,
- Since years I'm using VDj on a Macbook in Windows (through Parallels).
- Now I want to run VDJ on the Mac instead of Windows.
- Don't want to use I-Tunes, really don't like it.
- Music is on external HDD.

- After testing VDJ on Mac, found following issue:
VDJ reads and plays everything except the playlists (made in Windows, saved as m3u)

My Question is: How can I go on organising and playing music at home using WMP, and get VDJ reading and playing everything on Mac?
probably this is a question for the nerds......

kind regards,
Medancefloor (Floor)

That is not an easy task and no automated process exists (AFAIK).

The thing is the path to the song is stored inside of the m3u.
And you might know that win is using another path format as mac.

So on Win your m3u will look like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\I\My Music\Sample.mp3

But on Mac like this:

/media/MyDrive/Path/to/Songs/Music/Album/A Track.mp3

You would have to change every file path inside the m3u to the correct mac / unix path.
