Topic: Retain CUE points and BPM after name and path change for MP3s - database

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I believe it will be the easiest to ask on the example:

Let's say that I have set CUE points and searched for BPM for a specific MP3 file, e.g. example.mp3. What happens, if I move this example.mp3 to another path (from C:\Music to D:\Music)? Will VirtualDJ retain CUE points and BPM? How about if I change file name from example.mp3 to example2.mp3? Or if I change ID3 tags (artist, title), will it recognize it as the same file and retain CUE points?

How about if I copy the same file to another path, so I have one in E:\Music and another one in F:\Music and then change CUE points for the one located in E:\Music. Will the same automatically apply for the one in E:\Music? Or do they have separate properties in database?

If you do all the renaming, moving from inside VDJ then there is no issue,
Doing that outside is when VDJ doesn't know where files have been moved to or what they have been renamed to.

If you copy (inside VDJ) then the copy has it's own seperate DB entry.

I always copy/rename/move files with Explorer. So VDJ8 won't recognize mp3 anymore if location, ID3 etc. have been altered?

Well you're stuck then, it only works if you move from inside V8
