hello ,
i have virtual dj 7 LE which came along with mixtrack ii numark. problem is i can only sort out my tracks with key tab which shows them as letters and #s, however i want to sort them by harmonic keys which are numbers and a's or b's is there any possible addon to do so? i can't find it between the options i have for the tabs such as length bpm key...
thanks

Just drag it where you want it

It seems as there is no way to search by the "Harmonic". You have to search by "Key". If I want a 5A, type in c-m and all 5As will come up, 12A, type in c#f, etc.
9B is a G Major. There is no way to search by this. If you type in G-M or g-m, 6A will come up.
I'm using Virtual DJ 8, pro by the way.
Any ideas?

The compatible folder in the LHS explorer window will give you all the songs you have in key (approx). It will do + or -1, and A or B, but not jumps of +7, or energy boosts of +2.
Is that not enough?

Ron, I use this all the time. I need to know the jumps. If I'm playing a 7B and want to go into a 9B, I have no way of listing the 9Bs. Like I said, it's the only key that can't be searched by the letters.

This list I made will help a lot of people. Example: if you want a 1A, type g#
1A g#
1B B-M
2A d#
2B F#
3A a#m
3B C#
4A f-m
4B G#
5A c-m
5B D#
6A g-m
6B A#
7A d-m
7B F-M
8A a-m
8B C-M
9A e-m
9B The ONLY key I can't come up with. G Major, should be G-M but 6A comes up in search.
10A b-m
10B D-M
11A F#M
11B A-M
12A c#m
12B E-M
1A g#
1B B-M
2A d#
2B F#
3A a#m
3B C#
4A f-m
4B G#
5A c-m
5B D#
6A g-m
6B A#
7A d-m
7B F-M
8A a-m
8B C-M
9A e-m

We should be able to construct a similar folder to the compatibility one using filter folders which includes +2.
Left click the third button down on LHS (filter folders). Create a new one named harmonic mixing or something.
In the available fields select key difference, then all we need do is define the operator, maybe -1 to +2.
A much easier method.
Except I can't get it to work at the moment...hm.
I've got a key diff of 2 coming up on 3a giving a range of 1a to 5a.
We can do better than that!

Can't you just drag the BPM column to the #1 position to the LEFT, or wherever you want it. Then click on top of the column to index in ascending or descending order.
I usually index my BPMs in ascending order, THEN index my KEY column. It groups all my songs in BPM order for each KEY.
Then use the Camelot Wheel to figure out the jumps.

That works if all your songs are in one folder. However I use sub folders, and it only lists the particular folder selected.
Why do you use the camelot wheel?
List the numeric keys, and an energy boost is +2. I would assume since +7 is compatible, then +8 is yet another energy boost?

I use KEY because I grew up with that. I haven't taken the time to learn the "numerical" way. I edited the BlackSheep skin and have KEY loaded by default now on all 4 decks. Plus I increased the font size for easier viewing.
I have a JPG of the Camelot Wheel in the corner of my screen. But there seems to be a lot of unusable "spokes".
Version 8 seems to capture a wider assortment of keys. But I'll still do the calculation in my head. Like a "G" would be paired with an "E Minor" minus the Minor to make "E". Or the other way to a B-Flat Minor less the Minor for a "B-Flat".
I really enjoy mixing in KEY because of the way music blends together in a way that makes sense. Glad I took time to learn it.
