I can't understand why nobody has bothered to build an android 'remote' app for VDJ!! With Android phones taking 80% (yes 80 PERCENT) of the market share and iOS (apple) users only having 18%, it's crazy to NOT build one!
Yeah, I know, Apple tries to convince everyone that THEY are the 'leaders', and as far as phone sales goes (for ONE model) they are still on top (well, were)... But when you factor in ALL OTHER models and brands (ie: Android OS for the most part), they get blown away... Here's a chart from last year:

now this was from an article about BLACKBERRY losing market share, but just look at the graph people at VDJ!! Android keeps GROWING in OS market share while Apple is NOT!
Emarketer says there is expected to be 1.75 BILLION smartphones in use worldwide by the end of this year... What does that mean? It means that 1.4 Billion of them will be ANDROID users... while there will only be 315 million Apple users.... Look at it this way:
1,750,000,000 - Smart Phone Users Worldwide
1,400,000,000 - ANDROID Smartphone users
0,315,000,000 - Apple iOS Smartphone users (leading 0 put in intentionally)
Now realize that what that means is that there are 1,285,000,000 MORE Android users than Apple users...
Get it together folks! Give the MASSES (and they ARE massive) what they NEED/want! PLEASE!!
You could SELL the app for $1.00 for both Apple and Android and then look at how much money you would make!! Likely that the Android sales will be at least DOUBLE those of the Apple ones...
I have used VDJ since... Well, wow, I think version 3? Maybe 2... And have always recommended it to MANY others as well... But when other DJ software is willing to make Android apps to control their software and you are NOT, well... You may be losing a lot of NEW business to those looking for FULL featured software...
What about the rest of you ANDROID users (don't bother Apple users, we know you already have an app)?? Sound off?!?!

there is a android app called dj control that turns ur touch screen tablet or phone into midi controller via wifi works well in virtual dj pro 5-7 so far only 2 deck and no loop in/out button but im sure it will be added soon and i belive midi learn could change a un-wanted feature into loop everything needed can be downloaded from this official site
http://trajkovski.net/djcontrol/support.html
the app is available from googles play store
the app has been updated to work well in android kitkat os
ive been playing with dj control for quite some time now im very impressed it keeps getting better

dj control is working perfectly in virtual dj 8 you,ll need to have version pro 7 installed on your pc aswell make sure the device & mapper files are in vdj7 directory & vdj8 will use same directory & good news buttons can be changed to ur prefrance

.....and yet you say DJ Control is "working perfectly" for you - but you're a Home user.

1. It is easy for Droid phones to win market share when many of them are given away free or cheap. I would love to see a tablet chart. Which is what this app should really be on.
2. You make it sound like they just released the app. I bought it when it came out in 2010! They did a couple updates and it has remained untouched since then. I assume because it is more important to make VDJ 8. I also assume that with the 8 rewrite there will be more opportunity for new things, possibly a better remote app. Do you really think they have not heard this over the last 4 years? Just hang on to your graphs and charts while they make 8 stable.

Case and point, i just double posted here because even a full size iPad is the wrong choice to select small close together buttons. I meant to hit edit and instead hit quote.

It's been 4 years without comment from the company so I really think you're wasting your time with this!

Agreed.
Besides, if you really need to control VDJ remotely (and I don't see why you'd want to use a phone for that!) then IMO it's better to use a remote control app than the VDJ "remote" software. Presumably things like that already exist for Android.

Then why was it not removed in the recode?

In part I agree that it is a waste of time. I just think they would have eliminated it if they had no plans to get back to it at some point.

Keith was referring to asking for an Android version.

Ah, ok
Still I don't think the app needs to be a midi controller anyway (which is what it is) I already have one like most of us here. We need automix playlist management and library search. But the remote app for IOS is just a midi controller. Touch OSC and Lemur can easily do that and are designed for it. But over the last four years that I could use this or any remote app from other manufacturers, I have realized they are just not needed.
Most apps are just so quirky and delayed through a tablet, they may work overall but the amount of time it takes to power on the tablet. Then you have to reconnect because wifi was off when the tablet was off. Then start the app to connect to (insert software here) you are talking at minimum 30 seconds. It is just far easier to walk to the board, 30 seconds to 1 min every time the tablet turns off is just not worth the trouble and most of that is the tablet and not the app.
Plus is the app was up when the tablet turned off. Lol, now you have to force close it because you broke a live connection. lol I guess I am saying the limitations are not the app, it is the tablet Turing off and disconnecting all the time.

I am a pro user on my Mrs account jump the gun why don't you I was only trying to help others out & I get shot down for it also you can set your tablet to not turn off in sleep mode maybe that will help? Unless I'm missing something

Nobody's "shooting you down" for helping. We have NLUs (no license users) on the forum who contribute a great deal to the community.
However, we can only respond to what we see. If a Home user (according to the login) claims to be using Pro then of course it will get noticed.
I see that your (or your Mrs) rama1 Home profile also mentions using Pro and MIDI controllers.
To avoid the situation arising, log in on your own Pro account, so you show as a genuine Pro license holder, then there'd be no issue.

Agreed, my first point was more about logic. A phone is not good for DJ control, tablets are. Last I checked, IOS rules the tablet market by allot. If you want to control your show with a phone, well all I can say is have fun not hitting sound stopping buttons all night.
My other point is to help you realize that I have had the VDJ app since it was available and have used the app. I am also tech savvy, the app is not worth it. No app is for reasons I have stated above. If we were talking playlist management and song search, maybe different story.
So my points were really to help point you in the direction of good solid solutions you can currently use on Andriod like touch OSC or Lemur which I also own. Or you could take my experienced advice and realize that nothing is fast or reliable enough to risk during a live show. Seriously I have only use any app in public as a wow factor (for friends or other DJs). Never as a serious tool, the latency is just not worth it.

HI ...
very Sad with that VDJ 8 dosent support android ?????
My Mac book Pro 2008 has grown old and ugly and dull...... I thought to go for...HP Slate 21-k100 All-in-One touch screen android Desktop PC” which would have been very ideal /cheaper /big screen for my DJ BOX with VDJ8 + DDJ SX 2 as my midi / Mixer + CDJ 400's as CD players
BUT VDJ8.... is there any chances :-( as we need to spend once again for macbook or Imac
