Topic: VMS4.1, unit is not disconnected from the USB connection

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

When i close Virtual Dj, and turn off the VMS4.1, unit is not disconnected from the USB connection ! (I also have tried to switch off the unit first and then VDj)

When I'm shutting down Windows 7, the operating system freezes. I also tried it with Windows XP & Vista and the same problem happens with all operating systems.
In addition, USB icon is not appearing on the bottom right taskbar.

the unswer from adj to that problem......
ADJ EU support answer

The VMS 4.1 is using a really special ASIO Driver. If you switch off the console this can bring you the problems as described.
This is a thing which you will find also with other products from different builder.

I reply

Hi Peter,

thanks for the quick response.

So your suggestion is to shut down the PC and then turn off VMS4.1?

ADJ EU support answer

Hello,

and yes this is the way you shutdown the whole system.

If you uploaded a wrong firmware on the device and it actually accepted it then anything can happen!
Also if AA does not provide any firmware files for you to try restoring the original firmware there's no easy way (if possible at all) to extract the firmware from another device.

In your place I would contact AA and I would explain them what happened.
First of all there should be a "security" check on the device and if the firmware was not meant for the device (in other words not compatible) it should NOT accept it. That's a very good argument for you to put some press on them to get the "old" firmware.
However be warned that many devices (in general) cannot accept firmware that's a lower version than the current one.
In that case I believe you'll have to send your device on a service center.

Send a mail on AA and let us know what their reply was.

Just for your interest:
The 3.11 firmware is not the cause of the freezing problem. The driver is.

I had the exact same issues and did also receive the same answer you did from AA support.
But if you follow the instructions (first turn of PC, the VMS) all is good.
Sure, you have to get used to it, but that won't take long.
