Topic: Loop&Roll activates by itself randomly

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi guys,
I'm using a Pioneer DDJ Ergo, I've mapped the 3rd fx button to be Loop/roll on/off and FX knob 2 and 3 to be loop/roll Slider 1 and 2
Effect works perfectly but time to time (4 times in last month) loop&roll gets activated randomly by itself on random deck, usually while i'm pressing some other buttons, a different one everytime.
I've checked all mappings but it looks fine.

Did it ever happen to anybody else? could you please help me fix this? Is it a VDJ8 problem?

thank you

Could be related to the assigned actions. Could you please write here the actions from your mapping for those buttons/knobs ?

FX 2 (button): effect_active 'loop roll'
FX PARAM 2 (knob): effect_slider 'loop roll' 1
FX PARAM 3 (knob): effect_slider 'loop roll' 2

This mapping is for both decks.

I've also mapped:
FX 3 (button): effect_disable_all
LED FX 3 : effect_active 1 on ? blink 500ms : effect_active 2 on ? blink 500ms : effect_active "reverb" on ? blink 500ms : effect_active "wahwah" ? blink 500ms : effect_active 'sweep_auto' ? blink 500ms : off

could this be the guy who's messing the loop/roll?
I'm also using an AKAI LPD8 that's mapped to trigger different effect (reverb, wahwah and sweep_auto) + 8 samples

Sample Buttons (1,2...8): deck 1 effect_active 'slicer' ? deck 1 effect_button 'slicer' 1 : deck 2 effect_active 'slicer' ? deck 2 effect_button 'slicer' 1 : sampler all stop & sampler_pad 1
Sliders: param_bigger 0 ? deck 1 effect_active 'reverb' on & effect_slider 'reverb' 1 :deck 1 effect_active 'reverb' off
Same for wahwah and swepp_auto

The only case i can think of , for an effect to be triggered, without haveing a loop_roll effect action, is the case where a called Effect doesnt exist and VirtualDJ simply uses the selected one.
So if for example, you have something like effect 'Areverb' active... so the Areverb Effect doesnt exists, then it will trigger the selected effect, which could be the Loop Roll.
Check the AKAI mapping too.. you may find a syntax error, or an incorrectly effect assigned action.

E.g. no swepp auto exists
