It's good to see Numark going back in this direction (remember their HDCD1?), although this particular implementation looks a bit OTT.

IMO a single central screen would suffice. Think CDJ-2000 but maybe a tad bigger. As long as it'd wide enough to see Artist - Title and maybe Year/Genre without horizontal scrolling, then maybe 10-20 tracks at once for browsing.

There really isn't any need to show decks/jogwheels etc. on screen. When your controller is in front of you, what you need on screen is the track info, not a duplication of your hardware.

I hope Denon are paying attention....

You could loose the 3 screens by implementing 2 simple LCD displays on either side of the controller to simply show what each deck is playing (Artist - Title - Time etc)

then simply provide a video out connection for your own external monitor to show a file browser..

Though not forgetting the connection to laptop so you can still use this as a conventional controller with our favourite DJ software :)

Now please find a booth capable to fit this in, and a lorry to carry it... :P

I would never put all my eggs in one basket. Not only that, the repair time for a Numark NS6 is 6 months +.

They lost my business when they could not fix my NS6 in 6 months.

People tried asking (Denon) for that, years ago - before Pioneer released the CDJ-2000. I think having the option is good (especially if you can define your own layout), but it's better to have something onboard so setup is zero hassle. Plug in, turn on, chill out. :-)

Someone did this a few years ago but with a Mixdeck. He fit a 1U rack computer under the Mixdeck in the case and then mounted a screen that folded down and fit nicely in the case.

I do like the concept and would probably get one but they should add a cd drive in there as well.

Yup that's it and nope I never got around to doing it myself although with the Mac mini prices falling and LCD screens being cheap anymore, I might just have to revisit this idea and use my Mixdeck Quad with a few LPD8's I have laying around.

That doesnt sound like a good idea...let the video out be for Video. This a great idea like it is, browser in the middle, deck info over the decks only thing i would do is make the screen area fold away for transport

One of the reasons I don't use laptops is, I use a 23 inch monitor. I like big. I was also told, "Never put all your eggs in one basket". What, you never dropped anything, going into the gig? One thing goes wrong, and you have to bring in a whole new set up.

for $3 grand i'd have bought 3 computers or 2 computers 2 decent DDR5 graphics cards, monitors, sound cards, and a few extra terabytes if I had change left over.

there really are times when I shake my head at how many people in the forums put too much faith and work into gear and not enough into end product: happy customers.

and then to watch them post here and whine about not getting work or losing jobs to "craigslist dj's" who, while they might be using pirated software and crap gear, manage to completely and utterly rock a crowd for an entire night.

not defending AMAHM and not agreeing with either side of what this has devolved into from the OP (a piece of gear not for VDJ in the forum posts... still not sure why relevant here either) just making the observation.
but after reading some of the trollish crap some of them put on here I have to wonder if they aren't actually paid employees of certain other companies. and yes it DOES appear like that in my opinion.
