Topic: How to hook up KAOSS pad with Numark Mixtrack Pro

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Alright, so I got everything hooked up, and can mix while using the Kaoss pad and hearing the effects work, however when I record on VDJ, it only records the sound file from VDJ with no altering effects from the kaoss pad. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I currently have the sound output from desktop to the input of the numark, numark out to kaoss pad in, kaoss pad out to my m-audio monitor speakers. Now, I have a Behringer Xenyx 1832FX mixer (i also record music, it's way overkill for using just one channel but it was free) in case that would help at all, if I can even do this. Also, I have windows 8, if that matters. Thanks in advance.

you need to do a loopback to VDJ.. but you would need another soundcard to do it, but you could use your computer output as the mixtrack card isn't asio. you would set it up like this.

mixtrack out => koass in
koass out => mixtrack in
VDJ out => different/computer soundcard
different soundcard => speakers

VDJ should then output your mixtracks input to the different soundcard.
the master to the mixtrack
and only record the mixtrack's input.

To do it you would need to use 'advance config' in the sound config options dropdowns. But honestly not sure of any issues you would have with latency, by guess is it will be too high to use properly.

EDIT----

I thought of a hack.. You could get two rca double adapters and put them on the output of the koass pad and split the signal so it goes to both the speakers and back to VDJ through the mixtracks input. Then make VDJ record the input of the mixtrack

The Mixtrack Pro hasn't got any inputs.

Jizzle, the reason VDJ is not recording the effects from the KP is that the KP comes AFTER VDJ in the chain.

The chain starts with VDJ playing the music. The music then leaves the computer and goes to the MTP. From the MTP it goes to the KP and then your speakers. If you record in VDJ then you're recording before the sound has reached the KP.

You need to record after the KP, from the KP output. As synthet1c said, you could use a splitter cable to create an extra output on the KP and record that. I would recommend using a portable solid state audio recorder rather than sending it back into the computer.
