I recently upgrade my laptop. Sony vaio, Windows 8.1, I7 proecessor, NVidia video card, 2 gigs of dedicated ram to that card, 8 gigs on board besides that. it has the latest directX 11 loaded. A lot of the newer video transitions are not working. like jagged, dropfade, warp speed, etc..... Any idea why, Thanks.

You need to install dx9, this is a must and no way you can get round it, don't worry both 9 & 11 will work ok, links are available in the top sticky on front page of the plugin section.

Not sure why I need x9 when I have 11. All of my other transitions work. Why is direct x9 necessary for these new transitions to work

DX9 was created on the first day and brings life, lol... you need to install it

Because VDJ uses DirectX 9, not DirectX 11 and the default distribution of DirectX 11 does not include all the files required for a full DirectX 9 implementation - namely later D3DX versions.
Download and run dxwebsetup from Microsoft and it will install the missing files automatically.
