just got home from djing an sweet 16 1st tyme trying out my new set up live. 2 denons sc3900's,Virtual DJ & Numark M4 analog mixer. example while a song is playing on deck A or B (it didn't matter which side it did it randomly on both sides) when i load a song up on the other deck. it like freeze's & or hesitates for a quick second and then causes the current playing song to skip like if somebody was nudging the record forward ? it was a pain cause it did it all night different songs on different decks ? are the denons pulling to much power from the usb's ? should i get an powered usb hub and plug the denons into that. my laptop is fine i say this because i've been djing the last 5 years with my NS7 & current laptop with VDJ no problems. now with my new set up skipping songs all night? help, help, help. one dj suggested i use (one) sound card and not the denons ? does that mean go buy an mixer with an built in sound card and then in the VDJ config sound set up choose the mixer as my sound card ? somebody please advise.

Try adjusting the latency setting in the config tab. From my experience this typically an optimization issue. Too much stuff running on the computer at the same time in the background. Have you tweaked the computer to run better?

that was my first thought Jason could a ram issue too

like i said in my post above laptop is already optimized nothing running in the background ect,ect ive been using my same laptop,NS7,VDJ no problems for like the last 3 years or so. now i got rid of my NS7 bought two denons sc3900's and no i got all these problems with the songs stuttering when i load another song on the other deck. ive been messing around with settings all day and so far i got the latency at (795 18ms) in the denon control panel. seems like stuttering has stop but hell now my record response is way off :-(

I remember reading somewhere that there is an audio issue with macs. If you are running a pc, try the dpc latency checker. If your getting a spike then you can start narrowing it down. The denon drivers might not be playing nice with something in your laptop. Could be wifi/cdrom/bluetooth or similar. If you've been through your device manager and eliminated everything, next step is fresh install of your denon firmware and drivers. Unistall reboot and reboot again before you install the drivers. Still having issues? Try fresh install of vdj but back up your data first. If all else fails you can reformat the pc and start fresh, but before you do that test the denons on another setup to rule out hardware issues.
All that being said skipping when loading a track sounds like a latency/memory issue. How mach ram do you have? Your new denons might require more resources then the ns7 (prob not though).

In order to use the ASIO drivers with low latency (6-10ms would be fine i suppose), you need to optimize your computer for best performance. Several tools do the job fine, but i would strongly suggest to go through this , step by step..

Btw, its normal to have a temporary freeze on the screen (skin) while loading a file on a deck, especially if by default your Hard Drives fall to "sleep" if not used for a few minutes.. The software gives priority to the sound, ignoring graphics, but that shouldnt provide any sound clicks, pops and drops.

Also .. are you using external harddisk for your music? or 2nd internal drive?
While this is advantageous to prevent such issues as load track taking too much a toll (loading music file from other drive than the busy drive of the OS itself) - it can also have a performance issue that can cause skips like you mention a lot of the time (I've seen and have had this too).
IF using external drive, the cause is most always that the drive has gone to sleep - a feature to save power (for laptop), and when you try load a file in VDJ from that drive - windows/VDJ has to wait for the drive to "wake up" and spin up, and it causes a seconds glitch.
Disable power management for your USB drive, and turn off "allow this drive to sleep" at the drive properties .. and issue is gone , if its external drive or 2nd drive (internally)

i only ever used my internal hd for music. never used an external hd

Re-reading your initial post again, you say that NS7 + VDJ never had this problem, and that it only started when using the Denon players.
I would think this is the clue.
The denon players, double check the asio settings, to make sure its set at a reasonable buffer (11ms / 1024 or more - less than that is just asking for trouble).
Also a few other things (that can cause higher cpu use) that you might have changed around same time you switched to Denon :
- 7.4 version has color waveforms (rainbow color) - try turn these off if they are on - and see if that changes anything.
- In performance tab (VDJ settings) turn off quality resize of skin if you use skin maximized or resized
- Try turn off master tempo in performance tab too.
The performance tweaks are not super likely to be the cause, but are worth testing to see if your graphic card has an issue with enhanced settings.
Something is lagging your PC and if its not the drive sleeping, a bit of error checking is required to pinpoint what.
Can often be hard to say straight away what your PC's hardware is having an issue with.
Last bottom half in this Wiki are all good tweaks to make your laptop run optimal:
http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Common%20PC%20Performance%20Issues.html
That being said, if the only "new" is the Denons in the setup - i'd start there... check what buffer they use (latency), try use the Windows driver for them instead of ASIO as a test, etc

I already posted this in the other thread which I will now lock.
Try a different sound card.
That is my advice as someone who has used the 3900s for some time. Not sure how many more times I can tell you this though ;)

Your post has nothing to do with this Denon controller, and you have not given us much information. Please do not hijack other peoples threads. Pleas start your own thread, and give as much information as you can, thank you.
