Hello,
Hope everyone is doing well. I have just joined this page, and would greatly appreciate some assistance in what is for me, an important decision. For a while I have been thinking of getting a solid DJ MIDI Controller (with a built-in sound card, don't want to use my external Numark sound card - too much hassle). I have been thinking about Hercules (one or two of their models) as well as Reloop Beatmix. To my knowledge, both controllers have a built-in sound card, meaning it's just plug and play... Which is a better overall controller? I've heard some positive things about Hercules, but the Reloop Beatmix is a much larger controller and with well laid our buttons and space, which might make it more comfortable to mix with for me... Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated :)
Many Thanks,
Mekayl.

I think if you focused on this statement, your decision would be a no brainer. What works for you is more important than what works for anyone else.

You could checkout the reviews at DigitalDjTips. They are very unbiased in my opinion:

Some of the current Hercules controllers - all of them with a builtin sound card:

Thank you all for your replies. Is much appreciated. Yes, what is most comfortable for me is probably most important and i could be more comfortable with a larger layout/controller which would make it easier for me to mix, but i wanted to know about the inner workings of the controllers themselves.
The reviews posted should be perfect for assessing that :)
Many Thanks,

Yeah Reloop seems to have a good reputation, and i like the look of the console and the fact that it is bigger than the Hercules ones. And it has an in-built sound-card just like the Hercules, so am thinking towards Reloop (Price is not so different for the two either, should be okay), but have good heard positive things about the neat Hercules controllers as well. Just reading the reviews provided to me here in detail now to enable my mind to analyze things better :)

Another vote for Reloop from me.
In my opinion Hercules are aimed at consumers. Reloop are aimed at DJs.

makes sense, but as one could say i am new to using dj controllers, will reloop be a better decision for learning in terms of ease of mixing and being user-friendly. Does the Reloop Beatmix also have features such as sync like the Hercules does?

Quick tip here:
Don't buy what will be easy, buy what you aspire to.
If you learn quickly on a piece of equipment and then outgrow it, you've wasted money and time on something you've quickly abandoned. If you buy something more complex than you need, sure you won't use a lot of it at first, but when you are ready to roll, it's already there waiting for you.

That makes sense 100% and I believe that. Therefore, I am thinking it should be the Reloop Beatmix and a pair of solid noise-cancelling headphones. Was still just wondering if it does have the sync button and any auto-cueing capabilities as most dj controllers, from the simplistic to more sophisticated, have these features (well, sync at least). But the Duke definitely comprehends what you are saying and for that reason heart is going towards Reloop :)
One more question... Where i am currently located, dj equipment is very expensive, and therefore might order online or ask someone to bring me back my equipment from the US or Canada when they are coming down here soon. What would be the best place for equipment in terms of authenticity as well as best prices. Cheers!

Last bit of dj and sound equipment was bought from London, which i think has much higher prices compares to the US or Canada ?

RNBDJKB: I used the Hercules RMX2 for years with no problems but agree the controller layout is very tight and the platters suck when it comes to scratching. Use only if your preferred Genre does not need much song manipualtion..I use the Reloop BeatMixx for some time now and very happy with it. The large jog wheels are touch sensitve and can be adjusted to your taste. You will not go wrong with this controller..
Plug and PLay!

Thank you all for your replies; they are truly appreciated. I want to go for the Reloop Beatmix for sure. It seems like a solid controller and should hopefully get me started easily and with no complications or issues (*knocks wood*). Still my mind has few queries, and if they could be answered in the order (numbering), it will really greatly assist me amigos!
On the RELOOP BEATMIX:
1. Is the software i.e. Virtual DJ LE supplied with the controller (meaning the CD), as on juno.co.uk (where i might just buy the controller from), it doesn't specifically mention on each Beatmix product if the CD/software is supplied with the console.. It should be!!!! :/
2. With the version of VDJ that is supplied with the console (if it is provided that is), can mixes be recorded? Or do i need to use other software such as Audacity or whatever it's called lol
3. Can regular speakers (not monitors) be easily connected to the Reloop Beatmix?
4. I can't seem to identify/locate the SYNC button on the Beatmix controller. Where is it located?! I know SYNC button is not good and true way to mix, but where is it on the controller; i would still like to know that it is there and i can use it alongside manual beatmatch... Please let me know which button it is as most controller do have a sync button...
5. So there is an in-built sound-card/audio interface. That means I don't have to use the Numark external soundcard I have and everything out of the box is as the reloop claims... "Plug n Play/Mix straight out of the box"... No complications about installing/downloading drivers or mapping (whatever that is)... ??
Apologies for the continuous questions, but please understand my concerns as I want to order this controller asap! :)

1. Yes VDJ LE comes with the beatmix.
2. Yes you can record.
3. I noticed only RCA Jacks so depends on if your systems uses RCA jacks or not.
4.I have yet to see a DJ controller without a sync button. I'm sure it's there somewhere.
5. Yes it has a built in soundcard.
More info http://www.reloop.com/reloop-beatmix
You can also get on youtube and view some reviews on this controller. There are plenty and it will help you make a better more educated decision.
