What skin is that he is using?

its a custom skin made for Acer

Any chance that it will be avail for download?

Will make a version for download - might need a little change to not be identical, but will be similar at least ;)

I like it, it's a fun ad.

Must be my sense of humour, I thought it was as funny as hell.

agreed .. ;) its a fun good ad for Acer ;)

Forget the "stars" Jason, it doesn't matter how many stars a person has I've always said I'm a VDJ user first just like everyone else who post on the forums, stars don't cloud your judgement.

As for the image I think that only comes from a small amount of people worried about their own persona, me, like a lot of other people I get compliments on the show I can put out, with a lot of guys, some of the girls, and even bar managers coming up and drool at what VDJ is capable of putting up on the screens. Point being, I'm more than happy with what I'm working with, it's my "Weapon" of choice, lol.

Take a look at the video again and soak it up, I'm sure you'll find it funny next time round..

I get my props from my regular gigs, I guess most of the haters are other DJ's and some of the rave promoters around here. This is an argument has been on the VDJ forums for as long as I can remember (version 4.3 for me. I really do like the sound quality and accuracy that Serato offers, but I need VDJ's features, because I do video. I always tell ppl that software/hardware aren't really all that important, format and personality come first.

I look at it like this:

Better image = More gigs for me and other users
Better image = more users
Better image = more money for vdj
More money for VDJ = more development from vdj
More development = Better everything for me

I wasn't tryin to hate, just pointing out an obvious flaw.

Its not one or the other, its quite possible to do more than one thing at the time ...

And the (obvious flawed) logics you post, its as easily applied to Acer and entry level dj solutions-...

More interested in DJing = more product development
More new to djing introduced to VDJ = bigger use base
Bigger user base = more sales
More sales = more development ..
More development = better for you..

and i could go on with the logic game...

In the end its SUPER EASY .. Dj Tiesto in ad with VDJ is super cool, and more users getting interested in VDJ is super cool.. And more new and curious to be dj introduced to this with VDJ LE on ACER, super cool for everyone ;)

And Tiesto is sharing this on his Facebook page too - by all means saying "cool " ;) Maybe that helps your day ;)

And by all means, Acer being one of the biggest brands in the world, and Tiesto being the biggest dj in the world - using VDJ in the advertisement is of course all good ;) Regardless if the ad was meant and made funny and entertaining, or boring and dead serious ;)

I feel your pain after many years out there in the trenches, getting hit with stupid comments and looks. but its the same way with most anything in life ,the cloths you wear, the car you drive. You can't let that worry you down.

You're def right on with the exposure end of it and I see your point about more people interested in djing = better for the industries manufactures. However that pan out so well for the DJ's trying to make a living competing against the cheap newbe ipod and windows media player dj's. It can be hard enough to demand the money you deserve without the general public thinking anyone can do it. I don't personally loose to much work to the entry level DJ's anyways people know what their getting when they hire me, and for the most part the source of my music isn't that much of an issue at all. They pay for the results at the end of the day.

Tiesto is the man and it's def cool that vdj was in the same commercial with him and Acer. I was just a bit put off by the idea of it at first. Maybe my view of it is way off, was just the first thing that came to mind when I seen it. I'm always a bit defensive when it comes to vdj and it's image, but I do see where you guys are coming from. Sorry if I rained on the parade.

Well I do see your point too, just trying to put a different view to it.
And its not like it would not have been hella cool with tiesto on vdj.. ;) but that wasnt Acers idea/target group. It was more "learn to be tiesto".

The "ipod djs will take my dj job" kinda logic, has been around for long.
But is it any truth to it? I doubt that..
Its a bit like the vinyl djs said cd players will ruin the market - everyone is a dj.

In the end, talent prevails, and even if a newbie can get a cheep Casio keyboard, noone will hire him for a concert ;)
Your job & gigs is safe and fine, with or without newbies having a fun time mixing on their ipads at home .. .
Its just two completely different markets, different audiences.

I doubt the guy in Tiesto's video will ever come to your club with his ipad, and take your job ;)

And we shouldnt fear new djs starting out, rather embrace it - make them interested, and be proud if they start on our product line.

Even Pioneer (as most would agree is the #1 in the industry) have products ranging from beginner plastic controllers, to CDJ 2000 at the high end. One needs to do both, both market wise, and commercially - to be in business.

And its not a bad thing ;) more guys on our team - better for all of us ;)

What should have happened; Tiesto returns to the stage, sees the geek giving it some on his acer, pushes the guy aside and takes over but on the acer...surely a better product endorsement - he could have even made a bad mistake on the acer, the music stops and then we hear "not everyone can be a DJ" - geek returns and carries on in his element...

The problem would have been from Pioneer, they wouldn't allow Tiesto to shun their products in favor of a DJ app made for a tablet, their PR dpt is a beast...

Tiesto and Acer endorsing VDJ in the ad as is is more than good enough ;)

Tiesto himself is what - 40 years ++ , and old school cd player dj .. so what .

Doesnt make me feel any inferior for using digital dj solution ;)

Its not the tool that makes the dj - and I bet Tiesto could rock on any tool - VDJ, Denon, Vestax.. his talent is same;)

And the geek saving his ass on VDJ is cool ... its not like Tiesto threw him out , he called the guy and asked him to drop the beat ;)

Awesome in my book ;)

And if tiesto did a bit of mixing on the acer too .. wouldnt make me feel any better or worse as a dj..

Now whose missed the point lol

you clearly ;)

If Tiesto was doing like you said - it wold make you feel better?
Says a bit more about you - in my book, no offence.. but i see this a lot in some djs.

Get over the insecurity issues, be proud of what you use - regardless of what anyone woulds say, or who else is using it or not.

Its that simple! ;)

As one said before - will always be someone who picks on what clothes you wear, what car you drive... who cares;)
level over it ;)

Its not that hard ;)

Besides its an ACER ad - made for THEIR audience, demographics and THEIR marketing
NOT an ad made by VDJ, or to solely market VDJ. Its a product ad for Acer tablet. And them using tiesto and vdj for that, its damn cool in my view ;)

The point being made is that whilst this advert is good for VDJ in so far as attracting new entry level customers, it does at the same time put the product name into a negative spotlight for the pro users, although I think you've got off the hook because this is a tablet, if he was using a laptop/controller combination it would have been very different imo.

This is just my personal opinion as someone who takes an interest in this software, and would much prefer an ade of Jazzy Jeff using VDJ with timecode vinyls who later drives off in a Mercedes, Pepsi in one hand, Acer tablet in the other...of course any product loyalist likes to see their product betrayed in a light they consider positive.

I'm not so insecure really...I think you've known me long enough to know why.

Simply a matter of having a different view.

Well .. its not a VDJ Ad, for timecode with Jazzy Jeff.. its an ACER ad.

Think that should answer the confusion.
And as you say, its not even an ad for a high end controller, but Acer's new touchscreen tablet.
And by all means, right on target, their demographic audience are responding extremely well.

Jazzy Jeff and timecode makes absolutely no sense here.
That would be a VirtualDJ made marketing ad. This is not, its an ad from Acer.

And I'm for one happy to see, even proud to see, Acer using VirtualDJ and Tiesto to market their new product ;)
