Ever since I saw this video back in 1989, I was curious what mixer Biz Markie's DJ was using. During that era I saw some other video's with other DJ's using the same mixer..I also noticed on House Party this mixer made an appearance. are there any old skool dj's who can identify this mixer? You may notice the orange sticker logo on the front Jack plate..hope that will help identify at least the Brand of mixer.

your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like a Gemini. It may be this one here. But it's hard to say as the cross fader on this is in the middle and in the video it's clearly to the left of the mixer. But it may be another model of the Gemini (which were a popular choice then) or it could be a Stanton or Realistic.

could it be an oldschool atus mixer?

This was one of the most used mixers back in the day late eighties early
nineties not sure if it had the sampler on it or not but most DJ's back
in the day pro dj did not use Gemini (this is a 19' Mixer) Look at his right hand it's on the fader
back and the day most Numark mixers had the fader on the left side of the mixer
this is the one I still have by MTX without the sampler

What you've got to bear in mind is that what the DJ looks like he's doing isn't necessarily what he is doing!
Remember it's a music video. What's on the audio track is not coming from his performance in the video.
Although it looks like he's using a crossfader over to one side during some shots, there's at least one other shot (@35s) where he's using a control in the centre (or center for US members).
Don't believe everything you see!

audio000-
That's the exact same mixer I used before switching to MC6000. That was a great mixer, I especially loved that it had 4 mic inputs; lots of flexibility.
The one thing I could never figure out is how to get the program mix to work through my headphones.
Peace,
Nick

Haha! That's typical of what they do in movies (or music videos) to make it look technical.
In the Fantastic Four movie, I spotted a big DMX control desk in Reed Richards lab. Why would he need that?!

here's a narrower version with the same sticker. Must be a Numark and the smaller version of the 19" that Audio000 suggested:

was always curious as a teenager on this brand. I think Rob Base's DJ and 2 Live crew used the same one.

Well any mixer is "compatible with VDJ" in terms of being able to connect the output of VDJ to it.
It won't control the onscreen mixer because it won't have USB/MIDI. But then if you have a real mixer, you don't need onscreen controls!
