I have questions!
Scott mentions that samples are take from a track by using "data descriptors". Does this mean that it won't be possible to record an actual audio file from a track?
Would this also mean that if you were to use an existing WAV or MP3 file as a sample, some or all of the editing features would not work?

I hope DVS quality will be improved + traktor MK2 timecode support added.

Good question Groovin about the sampler, maybe they'll give us the option to save the loops as actual files (hint, hint team).....
Can't wait to get my hands on this!!

Atomix always tries to keep compatibility with previous features ;-)

I really wish this had been on day 1 when I was looking alive, rather than the last day when I was looking like the walking dead...

It Looks amazing but the pics used for the sampler effects look completely out of place. Without sounding harsh they look sort of childish compared to the rest of the software. Keep up the good work , to be honest as long as the sound is spot on who cares what the sampler pics are like lol.

Should be no problem if they are customizable....
Ehhmm: are they?

Being able to edit songs, or videos (especially those with breaks in them, arrrrrgh!) within Virtual DJ is HUGE! I can't tell you how often I have had to edit, then re-encode videos to get around the breaks. Looks like all that will be a thing of the past. I can't wait to get my hands on this!

Is that apple boot camp ( PC ) on a mac OS or running mac OS ?

Boot camped W7.

So did I hear you right when you said the sampler will have or play videos?? Can you expand on that since the cats out of the bag??

Just curious...if you don't mind sharing...which version of Win 7? 32-bit, 64-bit, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate??

In regard to the sampler only playing a bit of the actual file, do you have to have the track loaded into RAM and does it affect cpu? or can you just load what you require to play the sample?

I'm really surprised by those sample blocks
Compared to Traktor, they look childish, as others have said.
The pictures are pointless - what's needed are controls and a waveform
Traktor seems to go about this the right way. From demos it seems users can:
- quickly grab loops from tracks and add to the sampler (VDJ8 may do this?)
- assign these to pads/keys to stop start
- control vol and fx on these
To be taken more seriously, VDJ need to sort out these aspects in my view.

We run Bootcamp with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit on the machines because Version 8 is actually only developed on Windows. The MAC version is ported later.

Did you actually watch the video? It shows loops being able to be grabbed from decks andwith v7 you can already assign start/stop/stutter.

Liking the new improved sampler, especially the sample banks thing which myself and others have been banging on about for years!
Agree on the pictures thing though, although let's face it, it's not difficult to change both the samples and the pictures - how many of us actually have any of the default samples loaded anyway?
Maybe time to include some new default samples though - those infamous samples have been around for at least 8 years now! The number of times I've been in a venue as a punter, heard THAT sound, and thought to myself "ah, somebody's just pressed F1"... I know it doesn't matter to those of us who understand and use it, but if version 8 is a whole new relaunch of VDJ, maybe time to freshen up the default samples eh? :)

These new flexible beat grid markers.....
It sounds like the markers can be moved to the beat in the waveform, rather than the beat being moved to the marker.
How does this affect things when mixing a "steady tempo" song with one that has markers in "off beat" positions?
i.e. a 120bpm song with a steady tempo would have grid markers every 0.5s and a four beat bar would be 2s long - so the markers would be at 0s, 0.5s, 1s, 1.5s and 2s.
But a bar with an unsteady tempo might have grid markers at 0s, 0.48s, 1.2s, 1.4s, 2.1s.
