Topic: royalty free loops, and samples of tech house music.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I would like to use some royalty free tech house samples in virtual dj. It seems that most of the ones i see on you tube etc., are to be used in abelton, fruity loops, or other music production software. I don't want to get into music production with all that learning curve. I just want to be able to use some royalty free loops to string together in virtual dj. Any ideas would be appreciated. i don't want things like are in the virtual dj samples like "put your hands" up etc.

You can use those loops with VDJ........

But there are a couple of issues with doing so:

The first is that the samples may be in a format that VDJ doesn't like, such as 24 bit - so you may need to convert them.

The second is that you can't just load the samples straight into the VDJ sampler and have them loop. Unfortunately the VDJ 'sampler' is more like a jingle player. The files will need to be 'beatgridded' first, so that VDJ knows the tempo.

The only (current) way of doing that AFAIK is to load each sample into a deck first, set up a loop, then record the loop into a sampler slot and save it.

When you've got a CD or DVDs worth of samples, it's tedious in the extreme.
